Over six weeks, students will explore core art concepts through hands-on projects in drawing, painting, collage, and sculpture. Lessons focus on line, shape, color, texture, and form, with inspiration from historical artists. Each week builds skills in creativity, technique, and expression, culminating in a final art show.

What To Expect
Week 1
Line, Shape & Pattern
Students will explore the basic elements of art—line and shape—by creating abstract pattern artwork. Using various types of lines such as zigzag, curved, straight, and dotted, they will focus on line variation, pattern repetition, and fine motor control to design unique and expressive compositions.
Week 2
Texture & Mixed Media
Students will explore visual and actual texture by studying textures found in nature and art. They will create a mixed-media collage using paper, fabric, foil, yarn, and found materials, focusing on composition, layering, cutting, pasting, and tactile exploration to enhance their understanding of textured surfaces in art.
Weeks 3 + 4
Color Theory & Emotion in Art
Students will learn about primary, secondary, and tertiary colors, and how color can convey emotion. By mixing paint, they will create an abstract or expressive painting using only warm or cool colors, focusing on color mixing, brush control, and expressing mood and emotion through their color choices.
Weeks 5 + 6
3D Art – Sculpture
Students will be introduced to sculpture and basic construction by building 3D forms using modeling materials. They will create an animal, monster, or imaginative character in clay or dough, focusing on spatial awareness, sculpting techniques, and creative expression to bring their unique ideas to life in three dimensions.

In this 6-week art class, students will explore fundamental techniques and creative expression while completing 2–3 finished pieces. Artists will develop their skills, experiment with various media, and gain confidence in their creative process.
